Bob Elliott, who with his partner Ray Goulding made up the comedy team of Bob and Ray, passed away from throat cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 2. He was 92.
The New York Times reported that the comedian’s death was confirmed by his son, actor Chris Elliott.
Elliott’s obituary said that he died peacefully at his home in Cundy’s Harbor, Maine.
The comedian got his start on the radio in the 1940s alongside Goulding. They later went on to host The Bob and Ray Show in the ‘50s, but also kept their radio gig so not to abandon that audience.
"Ray and I both grew up with radio," Elliot once said. "Our whole hopes for the future were that we'd get into radio."
Elliott’s other comedic half died in 1990. But comedy runs in the Elliott bloodline as Chris’ daughter is Saturday Night Live alum Abby Elliott, who took to Twitter to express her sadness over the death of her grandfather.
