Chrissy Teigen’s facial expressions have officially dominated award show coverage on social media; starting with her joyful face for husband John Legend at the Golden Globes and now her cringing face at the Feb. 28 broadcast of the Oscars.
Her face was turned into a meme back in January 2015 when Legend won for Best Original Song for “Glory” from Selma, and her cringing face was made into a meme again on Sunday.
However, Teigen cleared up the reasons for her cringing face. It was believed to be for Sarah Silverman, but she took to Twitter to say it was because of Stacey Dash’s confusing cameo instead.
Dash’s appearance sort of fell flat, with many in the audience besides Teigen appearing to cringe. Dash has explained her appearance on her blog by writing, "When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not 'black enough,' they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks—and votes—just like all my friends."
