A group of Deadpool fans came out of the movie and decided that Ryan Reynolds needs to host Saturday Night Live. No, not as Ryan Reynolds, but as Deadpool, of course!
Fan Andrew Stege started a Change.org petition, asking Lorne Michaels to pick the fictional Merc with a Mouth to host the show. Stege wants the SNL writers to have Deadpool in every single sketch on the show and even wants him to participate in the musical performance. The petition reads:
“I have not watched a full episode of SNL in years because I just haven't been able to stomach an entire episode, but having Deadpool host, star, and be all over the episode would get the DVR set so I can watch it again and again!!! Not to mention, depending on the musical guest, how awesome would it be to have some Deadpool interpretive dancing while the musical guest was playing? There's unlimited possibilities!!!”
The petition has already garnered over 51,000 signatures.
SNL did not have Reynolds on as a guest to plug Deadpool. He did host an episode in 2009, when The Proposal and X-Men Origins: Wolverine came out, so it has been awhile.
Deadpool had the biggest opening weekend ever for an R-rated movie with $132 million. The movie, which is based on a Marvel character from the X-Men universe, will likely top the box office again this weekend.
