Oscar nominee Demian Bichir is the latest to join Alien: Covenant, Ridley Scott’s follow-up to Prometheus.
The casting was first reported by Deadline. He joins Prometheus star Michael Fassbender, as well as Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride. Noomi Rapace, who did survive the end of Prometheus, is supposedly not returning.
In 2012, Bichir was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in A Better Life. The Mexican actor has also starred in The Heat, Steven Soderberg’s Che, FX’s short-lived The Bridge and weeds. He also starred in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight as Bob.
20th Century fox plans to release Alien: Covenant in October 2017. The film is expected to bring Prometheus closer to Scott’s iconic 1979 film Alien, which launched the franchise.
