Jesse Hughes, the lead singer of Eagles of Death Metal, said during an interview that he believes everyone should have a gun and slammed France’s strict gun control laws.

The California-based group was performing at the Bataclan concert hall on Nov. 13 when ISIS terrorists attacked Paris. The attacks left 130 people dead, including 89 people at the Bataclan alone.

During a tearful interview with France’s iTELE, Hughes said that he didn’t think the gun control laws in France helped on Nov. 13 and believes that everyone should have guns because he never wants to see another horrible attack again.

“Did your French gun control stop a single f****** person from dying at the Bataclan? And if anyone can answer yes, I'd like to hear it, because I don't think so,” Hughes said, reports CNN. “I think the only thing that stopped it was some of the bravest men that I've ever seen in my life charging headfirst into the face of death with their firearms.”

Hughes said that he hates that it has to be this way, explaining, “I think the only way that my mind has been changed is that maybe that until nobody has guns, everybody has to have them. Because I don't want to ever see something like this happen again.”

A month prior to the attacks in Paris, Grantland did a profile on EODM, in which Hughes made his political stances clear. He told the site that he considers President George W. Bush a hero and is a Donald Trump supporter.

The group performed at the Olympia in Paris today and have more tour stops in France scheduled.

“I just don't want to let anyone down,” Hughes told iTELE. “I can’t let the bad guys win.”
