Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton announced today that he will release a new solo album in May. The record is titled I Still Do and features a cover by the famed artist Peter Blake.
I Still Do will be Clapton’s first album since 2014’s The Breeze: An Appreciation of J.J. Cale, which he recorded with several guest artists. The album also comes on the 40th anniversary of his iconic Slowhand album and reunites Clapton with that album’s producer, Glyn Johns.
Blake is best known for designing the cover for The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, as well as covers for The Who, Paul Weller and the famous “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” single. As for Johns, he is best known for producing classics like The Who’s Who’s Next, Led Zeppelin’s first album and The Eagles’ first album.
“This was a long and overdue opportunity to work with Glyn Johns again, and also, incidentally, the fortieth anniversary of Slowhand!” Clapton said in a statement on Facebook.
I Still Do will hit stores on May 20.
