Facebook users can now express their anger, but they still can’t dislike something. The social network has a new range of emotional reactions, although a dislike button is nowhere to be found.
Called “Reactions,” the buttons appear when you hover your cursor over the “Like” button. You can still “like” things, but a group of four additional emojis appear. One is a heart (take that Twitter!), another is a laughing emoji. The others are “wow,” “sad” and “angry.”
The reactions have been tested as early as last fall. Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg did tease the possibility of a “dislike” button, but it looks like the “anger” emoji will be as close as we can get to one.
“We’ve been listening to people and know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express how something you see in News Feed makes you feel,” Facebook product manager Sammi Krug said in a statement. “That’s why today we are launching Reactions, an extension of the Like button, to give you more ways to share your reaction to a post in a quick and easy way.”
