Jennifer Garner has often made headlines for her adorable brood of kids, but earlier this week she stepped up to advocate for many other young children who are not her own.
According to Kentucky.com, Garner appeared before a Senate and House Committee meeting in Frankfort on Tuesday in her role as a board member of Save the Children an organization which, according to their website, "supports education programs for children in the classroom and at home."
"I'm here because I believe so much in Save the Children's early childhood programs, and I'm hoping that you will continue to support them," the actress told the committee. "Certainly, whatever you're doing here in Kentucky, you're doing it right. So I want to be here to celebrate that, to lift that up, to point it out to all of you, and to remind you that consistency is key in our development and growth and success here."
The early childhood programs to which Garner refers promote literacy in impoverished communities and have seen positive results in the state of Kentucky. Her appearance was intended to encourage legislators to renew funding for the program in the face of budget cuts proposed by Kentucky Governor Mark Bevin, with whom Garner also met during her trip.
