The former London apartment of the late Jimi Hendrix is now open to the public and has been restored to look exactly how it did when the musician lived there more than 45 years ago.
In 1968, Hendrix’s girlfriend, Kathy Etchingham, found the flat on 23 Brook Street in the Mayfair neighborhood. It was next to the former home of composer George Frideric Handel. According to the Handel House Trust, the legendary rocker called the apartment on the upper floor home from July 1968 to March 1969.
“The main room of the flat where he lived, entertained friends, rehearsed and wrote new music and gave numerous press and media interviews has been restored,” the Trust notes.
Hendrix is a member of the “27 Club” having died at that age on September 18, 1970. Even though his mainstream music career spanned only four years, he is considered one of the most influential guitarists of all time.
Tickets to tour the apartment costs $10.85 per person.
