Kate Hudson opened up about being abandoned by her father, Bill Hudson, at a young age. The 36-year-old actress said she considers it a blessing in an interview on Feb. 18, however, and she does not have negative feelings toward him any longer.
Hudson was a guest on Jenny McCarthy's talk show, Dirty Sexy Funny, on Sirius XM. There, she discussed her and her brother Oliver's ability to find humor through their abandonment experience, reports Entertainment Tonight.
"We can have a sense of humor about it together," Hudson told McCarthy. "We can sort of laugh at the challenges that we faced because of it--together. To be honest, our dad, who we don't really know very well, is really funny ...from what I remember when we were younger [he] had a great sense of humor. When we laugh about our father, we go, 'We probably got that from him.'"
Hudson and her brother were raised by their mother, Goldie Hawn, and her mom's boyfriend Kurt Russell. They still had blessed childhoods despite their father abandoning them.
Hudson chooses to be positive and forgiving, also stating, "Life is funny. I just feel so lucky. I feel like it was a blessing. No matter what he goes through, I'm all forgiveness," according to Us Weekly.
Hudson's voice can currently be heard in Kung Fu Panda 3. She will next be seen in Mother's Day in April. She also just released the book Pretty Happy.
