Katey Sagal has signed on to star in a new family sitcom pilot in the works at CBS.
Currently untitled, the new project was ordered to pilot in January. It is based on the Australian series Upper Middle Bogan. It will be written by Modern Family veteran Dan O'Shannon with Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, who created the original show.
According to Deadline, the series finds Sagal starring as a mother who discovers that she was adopted and her birth parents are really drag-racing fans. John Carroll Lynch co-stars as the family patriarch. Swoosie Kurtz also stars in the pilot.
Sagal is no stranger to family sitcoms, starring in Married with Children and 8 Simple Rules. In recent years though, she has starred in the hour-long dramas Sons of Anarchy and The Bastard Executioner. Her most recent film role was last year's Pitch Perfect 2.
