Michael B Jordan and MGM are staying in business as the studio continues mining its old properties for remakes and reboots. The studio and their Creed star will make a third version of The Thomas Crown Affair.

The casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter and also confirmed by Variety.

The Thomas Crown Affair was first filmed by Norman Jewison in 1968, with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The plot centers on a businessman (McQueen) who plans robberies. The investigator on the case (Dunaway) tries to find him and the two have an affair.

In 1999, MGM produced a remake that starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. That film was directed by John McTiernan (Die Hard).

THR claims that Jordan pitched MGM executives the idea for a third version and they agreed to start developing it for him. The studio has yet to find a writer or director.

Jordan starred on Friday Night Lights, but really didn’t gain attention until he starred in Fruitvale Station and Chronicle. In 2015, he starred in Fantastic Four and Creed, a reboot of MGM’s Rocky franchise.

MGM seems addicted to rebooting old projects instead of developing new ones. In addition to Thomas Crown, the studio is also shooting Antoine Fuqua’s Magnificent Seven remake, which opens in September. The studio is also making a new Ben-Hur.
