Not all of the original cast from Ridley Scott's Prometheus will be returning for the next chapter in the franchise. Noomi Rapace will not be taking part in the sequel, Alien: Covenant.
Scott spoke with The Playlist and explained that they are still in the process of casting lead character roles and that Rapace wouldn't be reprising her role as Elizabeth Shaw.
Alien: Covenant will be taking place 10 years after the events of Prometheus. This movie will feature a new crew that finds the remains of the Prometheus ship. It is during this exploration that the new crew will be introduced to David, played by Michael Fassbender, who is returning for Covenant.
As previously reported, the only other cast member that has been confirmed is Katherine Waterston. This will reunited Waterston and Fassbender, the two worked together on Steve Jobs earlier this year. Waterston is also starring in the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them.
Production is going to start later this year in Australia. Covenant has a scheduled released date of Oct. 6 2017.
