Usually private about his personal life, especially when it comes to daughter James, actor Ryan Reynolds has revealed why he and his wife, actress Blake Lively, gave her the name.
In an interview with Good Morning Britain on Feb. 5, the actor revealed his daughter was given her name in honor of his father, James, who passed away recently. He joked that he could have given her a horrendous celebrity baby name like “Summersquash Meadowlark.”
According to Today, Reynolds lost his father in October. He had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for 20 years. Reynolds has been an active advocate in finding a cure for the disease. The name clearly has special meaning for the Deadpool star.
The interview didn’t just shed light on his daughter’s name. Reynolds also revealed he took home the suit he wore in his film, which will be released Feb. 12. Lively was “concerned” about him bringing it home for good reason, as it is now apparently “scaring the dogs.” He also talked about how much he loved parenthood.
The proud parents welcomed their baby girl early in December 2014, but were mum about her name until March. Even her birthdate was a surprise until her first birthday came around.
