Ryan Reynolds' career may be about to take off in a big way after the success of Deadpool, and the actor has already found his next role.
According to Deadline, Reynolds is in talks to join the science-fiction thriller Life, which follows a team of astronauts who discover signs of intelligent life on the surface of Mars.
This will reunite Reynolds and Deadpool screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who will pen the script for Life. The film will be directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and released through Skydance Productions.
Reynolds will be starring alongside Rebecca Ferguson, who was cast in the picture last month, according to Variety.
This is big news for Reynolds, who will likely be fielding dozens of offers after the surprise success of Deadpool this past weekend. Though the actor has kept himself busy over the past few years, he never quite became the type to lead a massive blockbuster hit, especially after the failure of Green Lantern. Two years after that, Reynolds' R.I.P.D. was also a bomb, and since then, he has mainly focused on smaller movies like The Voices, Mississippi Grind and Woman in Gold. But after Deadpool, could Reynolds be headed for a Chris Pratt style revitalization?
In addition to Life, Reynolds now has a major franchise on his hands, as 20th Century Fox recently ordered a Deadpool sequel, as we previously reported.
