Earlier this week, it was announced that the pilot for NBC’S revival of Cruel Intentions was greenlit and now one of the film stars, Sarah Michelle Gellar, has been tapped to possibly make a return.

According to Deadline, Gellar, who played Kathryn Merteuil in the 1999 film, was approached and while it is not known if she will appear, she is currently looking over the script.

As previously reported, the television show would follow Merteuil in her attempt to control Valmont Industries, including the soul of Bash Casey, whose parents are Annette Hargrove and Sebastian Valmont, her step-brother. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe appeared in the movie as Hargrove and Valmont.

Since Valmont is deceased, Phillippe, or another actor, may not appear in the television series as the character, but you never know. Gellar was seen in attendance at The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Cruel Intentions last May with fellow film stars Witherspoon and Selma Blair.

The idea for the series came from the movie’s writer-director Roger Kumble, as well as Neal H. Moritz, who is a producer.
