Upon hearing the news that her former co-star on the ‘80s sitcom Punky Brewster had passed away, Soleil Moon Frye paid tribute to George Gaynes via social media.
"The universe just gained a gigantic star,” Frye tweeted. “You will be in my heart and soul always and forever. Your little Punky. RIP George Gaynes.”
Frye also posted a photo of herself and Gaynes to her Instgram account and captioned it, "When I reflect on some of the most joyous moments in my life, they were shared with this incredible man. Love to your family."
As we previously reported, Gaynes died on Feb. 15 at the age of 98. He played a Chicago photographer named Henry Warnimont, who took in Frye’s Punky Brewster character after she was abandoned by her biological parents. The show aired from 1984 to 1988.
Gaynes also had starring roles in several movies including Carl Reiner’s Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman, Mel Brooks’ To Be Or Not To Be remake and Police Academy.
