Reality star Spencer Pratt has been known to put his foot in his mouth on more than one occasion but even he realized how insensitive his latest comment was and for that he is offering a mea culpa.

Pratt made the remark while doing a profile piece for Vice’s Broadly.

In the 2000s The Hills was one of the hit shows airing on MTV. The show was a spin-off series from Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and Pratt and his now-wife Heidi Montag played the villain roles. However, after six seasons the show was canceled in a move that Pratt could have described as crushing or awful. Instead of just saying that though he compared the cancelation to one of the worst acts of terrorism ever committed on American soil.

"[The Hills getting cancelled] was our 9/11," he said.

After receiving backlash for the comment, we all learned that even someone like Pratt is capable of an apology after realizing what he said crossed a line.

His apology came in the form of a series of tweets on Friday.
