Even though his 4-year-old son loves Batman, Ben Affleck thinks Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might be a bit too extreme for Samuel.

“Four years old is a little young to see this whole movie,” Affleck told The Associated Press. “I don’t want him to have nightmares.”

Affleck said that Samuel has seen trailers, but he doesn’t think Samuel has the attention span to sit through the whole film. Still, he took the role to make Samuel happy and he hopes that one of the film’s editors can make a super special cut for him.

“I'll have to con one of the editors into giving me a truncated version of the movie without some of the scarier stuff,” Affleck said.

Affleck is sure that his oldest daughter, Violet, 10, can see the movie. He and Jennifer Garner are also parents to Seraphina, 7. The two actors were married for a decade before separating in 2015.

It would be very hard for a 4-year-old to sit through the entirety of Batman v Superman in a theater. The film runs 151 minutes and an R-rated cut will be even longer.
