Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, who said previously she was manhandled by presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign manager, has resigned from her position.

According to the Washington Post, along with Fields, Ben Shapiro, who was editor-at-large for Breitbart News, also resigned due to the site’s response in regards to the alleged assault by Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s campaign manager.

In a statement to the Post, Fields said, “I don’t think they took my side. They were protecting Trump more than me.”

Last week, Fields had asked Trump a question after a Florida news conference when she claimed Lewandowski had grabbed her arm and pulled her away from Trump. She wrote a blog post for Breitbart about the incident and also posted a photo on Twitter showing finger-shaped bruises on her arm.

Both Lewandowski and Trump denied the allegations. A witness to the incident said he saw it was Lewandowski who grabbed her.

BuzzFeed reported Shapiro and Fields told Steve Bannon, chairman of Breitbart News, about their resignation March 13.

Shapiro made his own statement about how the news site had changed since the death of founder Andrew Breitbart, saying, “In my opinion, Steve Bannon is a bully, and has sold out Andrew’s mission in order to back another bully, Donald Trump.”

Since the alleged assault, strife within Breitbart has been reported, with staffers reportedly being told not to defend Fields.

After the news broke of their resignation, it was announced editor Jarrett Stepman and National Security Correspondent Jordan Schachtel also resigned.
