Longtime sports reporter Craig Sager reveals the sad news that his cancer is no longer in remission and his doctors have not given him much longer to live.

Sager made the revelation during an interview for HBO's Real Sports, which is set to air on Tuesday evening.

Despite what doctors have told him about only having a few months left, the 64-year-old is remaining positive.

“I’ve already had two stem cell transplants. Very rarely does somebody have a third,” Sager said. “So I have to maintain my strength, so I can go through this.

“...I’m not going to be that 3–6 months. I‘m going to be that five years. I’m going to make medical history. ... I’m fighting this thing to the end. I have too much to do.”

As we reported, Sagar’s son went public with the news in 2014 that his father was battling Leukemia and beginning treatments. Sadly, the disease came back again last year.

“I haven’t won the battle,” Sager said. “It’s not over yet. But I haven’t lost it either.”
