A Girl Scouts troop in Long Island, New York got very creative with their selling method, using the star power of Leonardo DiCaprio in their favor to sell cookies.
The troop from Suffolk County used a photo of DiCaprio buying Girl Scout Cookies from host Chris Rock during the show and created a play on words on those viral memes that have been circling social media.
“This is Leo. Leo wants an Oscar,” their creative sign reads. “Leo buys Girl Scout Cookies at the Awards. Leo wins an Oscar. Leo is smart. Be like Leo. Buy Girl Scout cookies.”
The troop was set up at their local mall and sold $348 worth of cookies in one night.
"The troop leader was shocked," Christine Terzella, the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County’s rep, told Daily News. "That is terrific, especially for a Tuesday night."
It didn’t just get the recognition of their county’s leader; the selling tactic was even featured on the official Girl Scouts Facebook page.
