Former wrestler Hulk Hogan was awarded even more money after winning his lawsuit against Gawker, which posted segments of a sex tape in 2012. He quickly took to Twitter to troll the site and celebrate his victory.
Back on March 18, Hogan was awarded $115 million after the jury sided with him, agreeing that Gawker’s posting of the video was a violation of his privacy. That was actually $15 million more than what Hogan was seeking when he filed the suit.
On March 21, the jury met again in a Florida courtroom to award Hogan $25 million in punitive damages, reports CNN. The six jurors decided that Gawker media itself will have to pay $15 million and Gawker CEO Nick Denton will have to pay $10 million. Former editor A.J. Daulerio, who was also named a defendant, is liable for $100,000.
Denton has vowed to appeal the decision.
Meanwhile, Hogan is already in celebratory mode. He posted a picture of himself body-slamming the Gawker logo on Twitter. “Thank you god, I am grateful, ‘I am that I am.’ Only love HH,” he added.
"I feel great. I'm really happy about everything that's happened," Hogan said after the verdict. "I think we made history today because I think we protected a lot of people from maybe going through what I went through. So we're very excited, very happy."
