Mariah Carey is the latest star to have her life featured in a new show on E!

In a telephone interview with The New York Times on March 15, the singer announced that she will be joining the network’s lineup later this year when her eight-part documentary series, Mariah’s World, airs.

Although cameras will show Carey planning her wedding and will follow her European and South Africa tour, she will not say it is a reality show.

“I refuse to call it a reality show,” Carey said.

She went on to explain that the purpose of the series is to get to know the diva herself a little better, rather than just seeing minute details of things she does like getting a manicure.

“I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am,” she said. “A lot of people have misperceptions about this and that.”

As we previously reported, Carey is engaged to billionaire James Packer, who she is set to marry at an exclusive island of Barbuda. However, Packer will not be part of the documentary.

“He’s a legit businessman,” she explained. “It’s not really his thing to be, like, traipsing all over Europe and hanging out with all my crew and dancers and singers.”
