Pixar has finally released a new trailer for their upcoming animated sequel Finding Dory.
In the trailer, which made its debut on the YouTube channel for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, we see Dory come to the sudden realization that she has a family. Dory, Marlin and Nemo go on yet another journey across the sea, this time to find Dory's mom and dad, and they encounter some familiar faces along the way.
The footage also shows us some of the film's new characters in action for the first time, including a whale shark named Destiny, voiced by Kaitlin Olson (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia). Then there's Destiny's friend Bailey, a snub-nosed beluga played by Ty Burrell (Modern Family). Olson says that Destiny and Bailey get on each other's nerves quite often, as we previously reported.
“I like to think I’m a shark, but Bailey calls me a whale, and I make fun of his head, because it’s gigantic," she said.
Finding Dory will also feature the voices of Diane Keaton, Willem Dafoe, Dominic West, Ed O’Neill, Eugene Levy and Idris Elba. In addition, Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks are both back as Dory and Marlin respectively, while Nemo will have a new voice, with Hayden Rolence replacing Alexander Gould.
Though moviegoers saw two original Pixar films last year - Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur - the studio has a fair number of sequels on the way. Of the five films they have in production at the moment, four are based on a preexisting property: Finding Dory, Cars 3, Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2. The only brand new project is Coco, which revolves around Día de Muertos and is directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3).
Finding Dory hits theaters on June 17.
