Former One Direction band member Zayn Malik has gone on the record to say that drugs help him with the creative aspect of his career.
In a recent interview with NME, the 23-year-old admitted to smoking pot for quite some time.
“I’ve probably been smoking for a while,” he revealed. “I don’t want to say when I started because I don’t want to influence anyone else. That’s just something I do myself.”
He then spoke about how he feels that smoking marijuana has helped him in a positive way it comes to his career.
“It helps sometimes with the creative process, if you’re smoking a good weed,” he said.
Malik left the popular boy band One Direction a year ago and since then has stayed at the top of the musical game. His first solo single “Pillowtalk” made it to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. He has also began dating supermodel Gigi Hadid, who is featured in the video for the hit single.
Malik’s debut album is out now.
