Tyler James Williams is one of the most versatile talents in Hollywood right now. Not just an actor who has performed since childhood on programs from Sesame Street to Everybody Hates Chris to his newest series Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Williams is also a musician and is now venturing in a new form of digital entertainment.

New Form Digital is a company that has put out new series that are strictly digital-based and six of their series will be available on Verizon’s GoPro app. Williams will be featured in one of their programs called RePlay, in which he plays the best friend of a woman named Allison, who relives her birthday over again after making a wish when the day doesn’t go right.

With the digital series available for streaming on April 20, Williams spoke to TheCelebrityCafe.com about this project and we got to hear some more about the star, including what kind of day he would redo if he could.

TheCelebrityCafe.com: How did you become involved with this project from New Form Digital?
Tyler James Williams: I got it from my agent who had kind of pitched the idea of some content that wasn’t necessarily as traditional as regular TV. I was interested in being in the forefront of that switch on this home-based platform. That’s what started it and behind it all was a good script.

TCC: What was it like doing a show that would strictly be featured on an app and not just for television?
TJW: It was a lot like shooting a movie. We shoot it all at one time instead week to week of doing different episodes. So that was fun just because it was a different format from doing TV. One of the big differences was the roll out, just how we’re giving it to people.

TCC: How did you balance your role on Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders with this project, along with anything else you have worked on?
TJW: I was able to focus on this one because by the time we got started, we wrapped up Criminal Minds in December and we didn’t start filming this one until January.

TCC: What attracted you to the role of Nate? Do you see yourself in him?
TJW: Yeah, I see myself in a little bit of every character. What I liked about him was his having strong objective of trying to be with with Allison in the confines of this life, repeating the same day world. It was really fun to watch him do that. In any comedy I just look to see is there room for this character to kind of play and spin out of control.

TCC: Describe Nate for us and how you would characterize his part in Allison’s journey as she replays her birthday over and over.
TJW: Nate’s the ultimate nice guy and he prides himself on that. He’s really down to help Allison in any way that she needs. And even in ways she doesn't know she needs. But it’s ultimately his downfall in wanting to be with her and I think that’s his part in her journey. He’s the guy who wants to take care of her and she doesn’t necessarily feel the same way.

TCC: Working with stars such as Lyndsey Fonseca, Cyrina Fiallo and YouTube star Mamrie Hart, do you notice a difference in the atmosphere from playing with huge stars on a sitcom series?
TJW: Not necessarily. Everyone was professional and came to work. It’s ultimately what every cast is looking to do. And in that way, not necessarily.

TCC: You not only act, but you also make music. What draws you toward making music?
TJW: It’s another medium to tell a story. I think that’s what all artists are trying to do is tell stories and it’s another way to do it.

TCC: If you had a chance to do one day over, what would it be: good or bad?
TJW: Probably a bad-day day. Days where nothing went right. One of those early days, when I was in my teens.

TCC: Is there a day of filming RePlay that sticks out in your mind as being your most exhausting or just really fun?
TJW: When we shot all the party scenes together, in the whole series, that was a fun day.

TCC: Would you do another online streaming show or do you have a preference toward sitcoms and other projects you’ve done?
TJW: Yeah, I’d definitely do another one. It did work out well. We’ll see how well it does and how people respond to it. I’d definitely do it again.

TCC: You once said you like to make fried bologna sandwiches. Are there any other meals you like to make?
TJW: Oh, [the bologna] was a long time ago. I’m one of those people who can eat breakfast all day long.

TCC: All right, I have to ask. You still watch The Walking Dead. Do you have any theories for what will happen?
TJW: My big theory is that it ends with just Carl and the baby. Just them by themselves finally. Everyone in the old world dies and it’s just Carl and the baby.
