Taste Trunk is a monthly subscription box that sends you food. There are two service choices available – you can either choose a variety of boxes from their large selection to be delivered in a specific order, or you can pick from four themed box types to receive monthly orders in that theme.

I tried out the second option and ordered a "Sweet Box." They also come in Gourmet, BBQ (great for Father’s Day), or Health. Check out my review of the Gourmet Box earlier this week.

Taste Trunk is a little bit expensive because you pay for all of your boxes up front, but they break down to about $33 per package which is cheaper overall than most other food boxes on the market. To help you out with the price, we’ll be offering you a coupon code for free shipping later in the article.

The trunk that this shipment came in can be seen above. It was packed into another box for shipping purposes and everything inside was padded with environmentally friendly shredded cardboard even though the items weren’t breakable. Better safe than sorry, right?

The two cookies in the package immediately caught my eye. My fiancé and I are fans of a good cookie and these were certainly some of the best we’ve had. I ate the toffee crunch cookie which was soft, buttery and delicious. It was made from all natural ingredients with no artificial preservatives. It weighed in around a half-pound making it a sinful meal in itself. My fiancé ate the black and white cookie. It was moist and cake-like with rich chocolate frosting and vanilla fondant. It, too, was quite large.

Just like in the Gourmet Box, this package included a paper bag full of almond caramel chews. There were a lot more than the picture shows. I wanted to give you a general idea of what they looked like without strewing them all over the place. The softness of the chews contrasted nicely with the crunchiness of the almonds and the flavors melded well.

Next in the trunk was a bag of chocolate fudge brownie mix. Once again, there were no artificial ingredients. The mix did include dark chocolate, chocolate chips and coffee and it baked up heavenly. They were restaurant quality out of my own oven. I found myself wishing I had vanilla ice cream in the house to top them with, but alas, I had to make do with gooey, fudgey brownies. Such a sacrifice.

Last in the box were two types of chocolate bars. The S’mores flavored bar had graham cracker crumbs mixed into the chocolate and the bottom was coated in individual mini marshmallows. It melted in my mouth and had a touch of salt that was delightful. The other bar was filled with buttery toffee pieces and was much better than the typical candy aisle brands. Both candy bars were milk chocolate, which normally isn’t my favorite, but I absolutely loved these.

Also in the box was a white envelope full of recipes you can use the items to make. The only thing that didn’t have a recipe was the caramels, but they did come with a card that told more about them. We didn’t try the recipes – we just ate everything as is – but they looked yummy.

Everything in this package is full-sized and amazingly gourmet. Adding up each individual item would cost you around the $33 you pay for the box. The deliciousness is worth paying for if you can manage the price of the trunks up front. To help with that, use the coupon code CelebrityCafe to get free shipping. Normally shipping runs between $7.99 and $14.99, so it’s a good deal.

If you’re not a fan of sweets, Taste Trunk offers a multitude of other options. Try out either subscription option for gourmet items that are sure to please.
