There may be a limited number of new releases this week, but they come with a big punch.  New installments from two major movie series are entering theaters.  Raven, Professor X, Alice and the Mad Hatter are all back for brand new adventures.

When the Mad Hatter falls ill, Alice heads back to Wonderland to save him in Alice Through the Looking Glass.  Using a time traveling device, she ventures back to the past to try and change the course of events in the Mad Hatter’s life that caused his ailment.  Along the way, she comes in contact with many of author Lewis Carroll’s famous quirky characters.  Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway, Rhys Ifans, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall star in the PG fantasy film.  The Disney adventure is playing in conventional, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters for one hour and fifty-three minutes.

With mankind threatened with extinction, Raven and Professor X band together with a group of young X-Men to take on their powerful rival in X-Men:  Apocalypse.  When the mutant Apocalypse awakens after years in hibernation, the indestructible immortal goes on a mission to take over the world.  It’s up to the X-Men to put a stop to him and save the planet.  The PG-13 film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Olivia Munn.  The sci-fi adventure runs for two hours and twenty-three minutes.

Just like Alice and the X-Men, another movie series joins the ranks next week with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.  Two other films making their debut on June 3 are Andy Sandberg’s Popstar:  Never Stop Never Stopping and the romance Me Before You.
