The Angry Birds Movie enjoyed first place at the box office for only one week. X-Men: Apocalypse claimed the top spot at the box office by grossing $65 million. This was expected of the film but could also be seen as a slight disappointment considering it brought in $30 million less than 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The other new release of the weekend, Alice Through the Looking Glass grossed $28.1 million and hopes to have some success at the box office considering it was thrashed by the critics.
The Angry Birds Movie dropped to third place after seeing a 50% drop by bringing in only $18.7 million according to Box Office Mojo.
Captain America: Civil War is in fourth place with $15.1 million and brought its overall gross to $372.6 million. It is now the current highest grossing domestic film of 2016.
Neighbors 2 rounds out the top five with $9.1 million.
Disney continues to dominate by having four films in the top ten. Disney won’t have any new releases next weekend as Warner Bros., Universal and Paramount look to knock Disney out of control of the top spot.
