Celine Dion took the stage Sunday evening at the Billboard Music Awards with a powerful performance covering Queen’s “The Show Must Go On” just four months after the death of husband, Rene Angelil and her brother, Daniel.

The singer shed tears when she was presented with the Icon Award by her and Angelil’s teenage son.

She opened up about the emotional moment to ET and shared that her song choice was her late husband’s favorite song.

“To try to perform that song without collapsing was big enough,” Dion explained, “and then I turned around and I saw my son. As a mother, I really, through this whole process of our new life, wanted to be strong.”

As we previously reported, Angelil died of throat cancer on Jan. 14 and her brother Daniel passed away just a few days later.
