After Kesha blew the crowd away with a beautiful rendition of “It Ain’t Me Babe” at the Billboard Music Awards on May 22, the singer again honored Bob Dylan with a performance of “I Shall Be Released.”
Kesha’s emotional performance took place at the Ryman Auditorium during night one of the Dylan Fest on Monday. Night two will be celebrated on May 24, which is Dylan’s actual birthday.
When the “Tik Tok” singer was done belting out the cover, the audience gave her a standing ovation just as the crowd at the BBMAs did on Sunday.
While she did not say a word about the drama with her label and Dr. Luke, these last two performances particularly have been so powerful and seem to take on a much deeper meaning than what is on the surface.
Proceeds from the Dylan Fest are going to Thistle Farms, a charity focused on helping survivors of abuse, addiction, trafficking and prostitution.
