Ahead of NBC's Upfront presentation on Monday, the network has announced their Fall prime time lineup, which includes three new series pickups in addition to five returning shows.
“The level of creative talent and stars who come to NBC is reflective of our leadership position in broadcast television, our sophisticated and upscale approach to all genres of programming, and our stable line-up. Coming off the Rio Olympics in August, we can't wait to get the fall underway,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, in a press release today.
The first new drama added to the schedule is Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan's Timeless, a thriller that brings together an unlikely team to go back in time and save history as we know it from a fugitive. The show stars 90210's Matt Lanter, Suits' Abigail Spencer, and Malcolm Barrett.
NBC has also presented This Is Us, a 'dramedy' that welcomes Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia back to television, and also stars The People V. O.J. Simpson's Sterling K. Brown and Young & The Restless' Justin Hartley. The fresh series from the the directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love connects various characters through their shared birthdays, and embarks on a journey through life.
Also present is the only new comedy offered on the fall lineup: The Good Place. Starring Kristen Bell and veteran TV actor Ted Danson, the series (directed by the Oscar-nominated writer of "The Martian," Drew Goddard) picks up in the afterlife with a woman (Bell) who, by her own admission, has been 'mistaken' for someone else who actually belongs in 'the good place.' Along with her mentor (Danson) she tries to fit in with the 'good' crowd.
Also announced were new series that will premiere mid-season, including comedies like the Marlon Wayan starter Marlon and Powerless starring Vanessa Hudgens, and dramas including the next Chicago installment, Chicago Justice and Emerald City, a re-imagined version of The Wizard of Oz.
