It’s not common that obituaries give people a laugh, but the author of a Virginia woman’s recent piece displayed a sense of humor during an otherwise sad time.
The first line of Mary Anne Noland’s obit has drawn chuckles given that it has to do with the upcoming election and a choice some Americans said they would rather not have to make.
“Faced with the prospect of voting for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, Mary Anne Noland of Richmond chose, instead, to pass into the eternal love of God on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the age of 68,” the opening of her obit read.
The post then went the serious route and gave a brief background on Noland before mentioning that she is survived by her husband, three sons and 10 grandchildren who called her "Grammy." But it’s that opening line that will likely bring a smile to a reader’s face.
