Update: Officials announced Wednesday afternoon that they recovered the child's remains.

Search efforts are underway to locate a 2-year-old boy who was attacked and pulled into the water by an alligator on Tuesday near Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that search teams have been checking the Seven Seas Lagoon with an air and dive team. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is also assisting in the search operation for the toddler.

On June 14, the young boy and his family, on vacation from Nebraska, were by the water’s shoreline when a large gator came out of the lake and dragged the child in. The boy’s father tried desperately to pull his son from the animal’s jaw, but could not. The family informed a lifeguard about the attack and law enforcement was called in.
