American Idol superstar Kelly Clarkson announced that she has split with RCA records. She had been with RCA since winning the coveted singing competition.
The 34-year-old vocalist spoke in a Facebook Live video post about the announcement. "As you know, I came from American Idol, which was awesome. But it was kind of an arranged marriage after getting in the industry, while it was awesome sometimes, sometimes it was rough."
Clarkson will move on with Atlantic Records. She said they would be willing to give her artistic liberty with the songs she wants to make.
The singer stated, "they love every part of my personality, as far as all the colors of my voice."
She talked about the different sides to her singing, including Broadway, pop, country and her "soulful side."
According to Clarkson, Atlantic Records is "down to really make whatever record I'm into, which is real rare."
In addition to telling her fans how "excited" she was, she posted a photo celebrating her newest venture.
Clarkson also announced that the last Friday of every month, she will release free cover songs on her website.
