Trust the Process
The 2016 NBA draft hasn’t started yet but apparently we now know who the top pick in the draft will be.
According to Cleveland.com, the Philadelphia 76ers informed Ben Simmons on Tuesday that they will draft him with the number one pick. The 76ers will be making their second number one pick in the draft since 1985. They traded the number one pick away in 1986. In 1996 they drafted Allen Iverson as the first overall pick.
Simmons has been projected as the number one pick leading up to the draft. He worked out the the 76ers on Tuesday. After the workout he posted a pic of himself in a 76ers jersey on Instagram with the caption “Trust the process.”
Simmons, who is from Australia, just finished his freshman year at LSU. He averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists at LSU. He is considered to be a franchise player and the way he plays best resembles the way LeBron James plays.
The 76ers have struggled in recent years and are coming off of four straight losing seasons. They haven’t made the playoffs since the 2011-12 season. Last year they were 10-72. The NBA draft is on Thursday.
