Fifty-six years ago, Jane Lynch, the actor, singer and comedian was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois. She spent 15 years in the Chicago theater scene at the Steppenwolf Theater and The Second City comedy troupe, before gaining notoriety in Christopher Guest's projects such as Best in Show. As Sue Sylvester in Glee, she won many awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Lynch had been a working actor for years before she was a household name. She spent a lot of time guesting on television shows such as: L.A. Law, The West Wing, Arrested Development, Two and a Half Men, Gilmore Girls and more. One of her first roles was in 1993, when she had a part as a doctor alongside Harrison Ford in The Fugitive. She has also been in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Her memoir Happy Accidents was released in Fall 2011.
Lynch is active in LGBTQT and animal rights issues. She was married to Lara Embry, but their divorce was finalized in 2014.
Lynch received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of television in 2013. Now she can be seen hosting NBC game show Hollywood Game Night, for which she has won two Emmy Awards.
