Jay Z has entered the commentary against police brutality on African Americans following the back-to-back deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, with an impassioned new song titled "Spiritual."

In a post shared by Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal, the rapper states “I made this song a while ago, I never got to finish it.” The rapper says he was encouraged to drop the song after the death of Mike Brown, however, he knew “this issue would always be relevant.”

Jay Z's wife, Beyoncé, was not silent on the issue either. She posted a powerful message on her website, demanding the black community “take a stand.”

She paid her respects to Sterling, Castile and others slain at the hands of police officers with a moment of silence at her Glasgow show.

On July 5, Sterling, 37, was fatally shot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after being tackled to the ground by two white police officers. Philando Castile was fatally shot a day later in Falcon Heights, Minnesota by a white police officer. He was 32.

"Spiritual"by Jay Z is available now on Tidal.
