KatyCats, don’t fret! Katy Perry has not forgotten about you as she just dropped her first new material since releasing Prism nearly three years ago.
Perry decided to take the surprise route that many music artists are employing, tweeting out a link to “RISE” late last night, which is exclusively available on Apple Music and iTunes.
“This song has been brewing inside of me for years,” Perry announced in a statement. “Now, more than ever there is a need for our world to unite.”
But don’t be mistaken; “RISE” is not the lead single for a new LP. The song will instead be a soundtrack to NBC’s 2016 Olympic Games, which kicks off on Aug. 5.
“I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be” the singer said.
Perry has also gifted fans with a visual for “RISE” as well.
