It is time for another One Direction band member to go a different route. Looks like its Liam Payne's turn.
Payne announced on Thursday that he is embarking on his solo journey as a music artist. He broadcasted his news via social media. However, if you are expecting the One Direction singer to sign with Syco Music, creator and manager Simon Cowell's music label, think again.
"Happy to have signed to Capitol Records," Payne captioned a photo on Instagram. "They have an amazing history of artists, I hope I can follow in the footsteps."
Capital Records houses powerhouse talent such as Sam Smith and Katy Perry, who just released the hit single "RISE."
The 22-year-old wants his loyal "Directioners" to know that the boy band still has a special place with him.
"One Direction will always be my home and family but I'm very excited to see what this next chapter brings" Payne told fans.
Niall Horan, Payne's band mate, has decided to stick with Cowell's Syco Music. While Zayn Malik is burning up the charts with the backing of RCA.
There has been no word as to when fans can expect to hear Payne's solo music.
