MistoBox is a coffee subscription club that sends you bags of curated beans each month. You simply fill out a flavor profile (for regular beans; they don’t sell flavored coffee), how many weeks between shipments (between one and four) and which tier of service you want – basic or deluxe. Deluxe has more specialty coffees and costs a bit more. I signed up for the deluxe service and received a delicious bag of coffee beans.
They deliver your bag of coffee in a logoed box, seen above this article. It’s simple, like the service and gets the beans to you intact.
This month I received a medium blend from Barefoot Coffee Roasters called "The Beast." The beans are from Guatemala and Brazil and are "intended to appeal to a wide audience of coffee lovers." They suggest brewing it as a French Press, but I don’t have one. I ground the beans and brewed them up in my iCoffee Da Vinci Single-Serve maker, which is similar to a Keurig, and it worked just fine.
The coffee wasn’t too dark and had a rich flavor. No burnt coffee taste here. The write-up suggests that it has notes of bittersweet chocolate and snickerdoodle cookie, though, I reiterate, it’s not a flavored coffee. I could definitely taste the chocolate notes, but the cinnamon eluded me. It was, however, an incredibly tasty brew and I could tell they were quality beans.
The basic tier of service costs $15.99 per bag while the deluxe will charge you $18.99 which makes this service a bit pricey. At least shipping is free. You can also get a discount if you pay for six or 12 shipments upfront. And, if you ever feel you need a break for any reason, you can place your account on hold for any number of weeks.
Is it worth it? If you enjoy trying new quality coffees beyond what the grocery store or Dunkin’ Donuts has to offer, I would say yes. These beans are the best of the best and the flavor is amazing. You can’t beat coffee that you grind yourself. If you’re a coffee connoisseur, this is the club for you. Check them out here.
