DC Comics rules the box office for the second straight week as Suicide Squad holds the top spot. The film did see a 67 percent decline during its second weekend but brought in $43.7 million raising its total domestic gross to $222.8 million during the first 10 days of release. I’m predicting that it will gross more than Batman v. Superman during its theatrical run.
Second place went to the new animated comedy Sausage Party. It brought in an impressive $33.6 million and I think it will have no problem passing $100 million domestically. Third place went to the other new animated release Pete’s Dragon, which brought in $21.5 million. Pete’s Dragon has received positive reviews but might struggle to find an audience reports Box Office Mojo.
Jason Bourne came in fourth place with $13.6 million and is closing in on $130 million domestically. Bad Moms rounds out the top five with $11.5 and just passed $70 million domestically. The other new release, Florence Foster Jenkins, brought in $6.6 million.
Suicide Squad looks to hold the top spot for the third straight week but I’m thinking the new action comedy War Dogs will give it a tough challenge.
