FOXTRAX are a trio of Long Island boys with a rustic sensibility and an endearing charm, set on capturing your heart with their debut release of The Cabin: a 5-track EP developed from 6 weeks of demo sessions secluded in Northern Carolina woods. In a little over a year these indie rockers have ambitiously set out from their roots in Oceanside, NY all the way out to Los Angeles, garnering notable attention along the way.

Listening to the band play it’s hard to believe that Ben Schneid, with brothers Jared and Jon Stenz came together to play music only since early 2015. From the indie calls for making it on your own in “Go It Alone” to the rock and roll cries of “I’ll Be Back For You” the sonic craftsmanship is undeniably catchy. Their recent story may come from trailing fox tracks in the snow, but the trio’s origins go back further: playing Little League together, writing high school newspaper articles, delegates in model UN competitions. By the end of college the move to write music together seems a natural transition.

The FOXTRAX release of The Cabin becomes further accentuated with the accompanying music video for the “Underwater” track: a visual trek of a man stranded in the desert, grasping at every given mirage that comes across his path. As you follow around singer Schneid the sense of his words start to sink in where, “My eyes are wide but I can’t say what’s going on.” Much like their ‘foxtrax’ namesake, the desert run is an adventurous trip that could lead just about anywhere. Let’s hope The Cabin is the beginning of many things to come as FOXTRAX sets out on their musical journey.
