One Less Reason recently released their album, The Memories Uninvited. Equal parts heart and angst, driving sounds and relatable lyrics mark this record.

One Less Reason, a Tennessee born and bred rock ensemble, recorded the sixth album of their career over a two-year period. The result is The Memories Uninvited, a heavy rock record released August 19.

The Memories Uninvited is distributed by Tattooed Millionaire Records. Co-founded by frontman Cris Brown in 2014, the label resides at the former House of Blues Memphis studio. Due to One Less Reasons’ access to Brown’s recording space and label, the band controls budget, time and artistic process on each project. Densely layered and fine-tuned tracks result from this freedom.

‘Break Me’ kicks off The Memories Uninvited with strong rock ballad sensibilities. It seems everything listeners need to know about One Less Reason is found in track one. "Break Me" is angsty and yet hopeful, powerful but accessible. A complimentary and well-orchestrated video incorporates clear storyline with high-impact images. It is refreshing to see female boxing highlighted but not over-sexualized in these hard-hitting visuals.

Producing Heartfelt Rock

"On the Way Down," "Where Were You" and "Something Beautiful" retain a high-energy feel. Each track evokes an almost cinematographic feel, perfect for highway driving. In fact, the majority of this album comes across as angry, yet catchy. Notable exceptions do present themselves however, saving the album from blending into one track. "One Day" is a prime example, as a fitting southern influence creeps into vocals and instrumentation. A sincere track, "One Day" represents the softer side of rock.

The Memories Uninvited wraps up with a cool-down in tempo. "You Didn’t Know" feels openhearted and personal, with a moderate tempo. Finally, "Rainmaker" closes out the album in a sparse acoustic track. Brown’s vocals shine through this song in a relatable and emotional final note.

One Less Reason produced a definitively rock album with The Memories Uninvited. Additionally, their choice of lyrics and composition draw listeners in, rather than building walls between them. With accessible vocals, multilayered instrumentation and driving rhythms, One Less Reason creates rock for the next generation.
