Robert De Niro compared his psychopathic Taxi Driver character to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at the Sarajevo Film Festival on Aug. 12.

"What he has been saying is totally crazy, ridiculous, stuff that shouldn’t be even… he is totally nuts,” De Niro said during a Q&A at the festival, according to Variety.

De Niro got an applause when he said, "People like Donald Trump who shouldn’t be where he is so… God help us." The actor also commented on how the media is paying too much attention to Trump.

De Niro is best known for his roles in films like Mean Streets, The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Brazil, Goodfellas, Heat, Meet the Parents, and Silver Linings Playbook.

The actor will next be seen in boxing drama Hands of Stone on Aug 26. He plays Bernie Madoff in the HBO movie The Wizard of Lies premiering in 2017. He also plays the lead in The Comedian from the director of Ray. De Niro stars opposite Leslie Mann, Danny DeVito, Harvey Keitel, Cloris Leachman, and Edie Falco.
