The bad guys continue to rule the box office as Suicide Squad was No. 1 again. The DC Comics film brought in $20.7 million raising its total domestic gross to $262.3 million through 17 days. It is fifth on the list of DC Comics film adaptations.
Sausage Party holds second place for the second straight week with $15.3 million raising its total domestic gross to $65.3 million. I’m predicting that this film will just break the $100 million mark domestically. War Dogs finished third this week with $14.3 million and I was expecting it to find a larger audience.
Fourth and fifth place went to the other new releases of the week. Kubo and the Two Strings brought in $12.6 million and Ben-Hur with $11.4 million. Ben-Hur looks like it could become one of the larger flops so far this year reports Box Office Mojo. Pete’s Dragon saw almost a 50 percent drop and passed $40 million domestically. The Secret Life of Pets passed $345 million domestically through 45 days at the box office.
I think Suicide Squad will pass $300 million domestically next week and it even has a decent shot to stay No. 1 at the box office.
