Mel Brooks shared memories about Gene Wilder on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon the day after Wilder passed away.

Brooks talked about Wilder in The Producers, Blazing Saddles as well as their time creating Young Frankenstein together. Brooks tells stories involving Wilder crying when The Producers got a budget and their disagreement with the tap dancing scene in Young Frankenstein.

"He was sick and I knew it and he was such a dear friend. I expected it, I expected he would go, but I don't know when it happens it's still tremendous," Brooks said. "It's a big shock, I'm still reeling from no more Gene. I can't call him, and he was such a wonderful part of my life."

Wilder earned an Oscar nomination for his performance in The Producers and another for co-writing Young Frankenstein with Brooks.

While on the show, the comedy legend also talked about living in Brooklyn when he was a kid.

Brooks recently had a role in Hotel Transylvania 2. He lends his voice to Blazing Samurai which is set for release on Aug. 4, 2017.

Wilder died at age 83 on Aug. 29 from a three-year battle with Alzhemier's Disease. He kept his disease hidden from the public so his younger Willy Wonka fans wouldn't be sad.
