Netflix renewed Stranger Things for a nine-episode second season that is set to premiere on the streaming service in 2017.

The series is meant to be a homage to 80's pop culture and is set during that time period in Indiana. Winona Ryder led the series about a missing boy and a telekinetic girl who helps with the search. Ryder returns with Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo for the second season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The show's official Twitter posted a video about the renewal.

Even though the show was renewed for a second season on Aug. 31, the upcoming season has apparently been in progress for a while, according to Variety.

The show was created by The Duffer Brothers who return as executive producers and writers for the second season.

The first season was comprised of eight episodes and was made available to stream on Netflix on July 15.
