Reports surfaced over the weekend that Lady Gaga will be headlining this year's Super Bowl halftime show in Houston, but just as little monsters everywhere began rejoicing the NFL said not so fast.

On Sunday, Sept. 18, Us Weekly published a story claiming that a source confirmed Lady Gaga would be performing during the 2017 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show in February. Later though, the league said that is not the case and that in fact no performer had been chosen at this time.

Natalie Ravitz, senior vice president of communications for the NFL, tweeted at Us Weekly and disputed the claim, “We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision. We’re happy there is so much excitement about the show.”

So if not Gaga then who could be this year's halftime show headliner?

As you may recall another name that has been thrown around as a possible performer is Adele, but the “Hello” singer shot down those rumors last month.

“I’m not doing the Super Bowl,” Adele told the crowd at a show in Los Angeles. “I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really – I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”

Interesting note about that is the NFL also denied asking Adele. So with all this misinformation floating around we probably shouldn't totally count Mother Monster out yet.
